Shipping policy

How we ship vintage furniture

Almost everything we sell is a single, irreplaceable piece, and most of it is too large and too fragile for a parcel carrier. Larger pieces travel with specialist furniture carriers who blanket-wrap, pad and secure each item — not on a standard freight pallet, and never loose in a van. Smaller items go by UPS or FedEx, boxed and insured.

Every shipment is insured for its full value. If a carrier damages a piece, that is our problem to solve, not yours.

What shipping costs

You see the exact cost at checkout before you pay — there are no surprise invoices after the fact, and we never ask for more money once an order is placed. Cost depends on two things: the size of the piece, and how far it has to travel from our warehouse in Williston, Vermont.

Small items — paintings, lamps, sculpture, accessories

Shipped boxed via UPS or FedEx.

  • New England: $19
  • Mid-Atlantic: $29
  • Midwest & Southeast: $39
  • South Central & Plains: $49
  • Mountain & West: $59

Furniture — insured freight delivery

Furniture is grouped into four size classes. The rate you pay is set by the class of the piece and your region:

  • Small furniture (side tables, small chairs, mirrors): $299 – $399
  • Medium furniture (armchairs, coffee tables, nightstands, smaller casegoods): $399 – $499
  • Large furniture (dressers, credenzas, sofas, dining tables): $449 – $599
  • Oversized furniture (highboards, wall units, sectionals, very large casegoods): $499 – $799

The lower end of each range applies to New England and the Northeast; the upper end applies to the West Coast and Mountain states. Your exact rate is calculated at checkout once you enter your address.

If your cart contains both a small item and a piece of furniture, you will see each shipment priced separately at checkout, so you always know what you are paying for and why.

What furniture delivery includes

Furniture is delivered curbside or to your threshold — the driver brings the piece off the truck to your curb, driveway, garage or just inside your front door on the ground floor. We want to be straight with you about this rather than have you expecting something else on delivery day.

That means the following are not included as standard:

  • Carrying the piece to another room, upstairs, or down to a basement
  • Unpacking, assembly or placement
  • Removal of blankets, padding or packaging
  • Hoisting through windows, or navigating walk-ups and tight stairwells

Most drivers travel solo, so please have a second person available to help move larger pieces once they are off the truck. If you need in-room placement, stair carry, or additional handling, email us before you order — we can often arrange it with the carrier or recommend a local delivery service, and we will quote it honestly up front.

How long it takes

  • Small parcel items: usually ship within 3–5 business days.
  • Furniture to New England: typically 3–5 weeks.
  • Furniture elsewhere in the continental US: typically 4–6 weeks.

Furniture freight is slower than parcel because pieces travel on consolidated routes with other furniture shipments — that is what keeps the cost from being far higher. The carrier will contact you to arrange a delivery window. If you need a piece by a specific date, email us before ordering and we will tell you honestly whether it is achievable.

Free local pickup

Collecting the piece yourself is always free. Choose Pick up at checkout and we will have your piece ready at 22 Chad Lane, Williston, Vermont 05495, usually within 24 hours. Pickup is by appointment — contact us after ordering and we will arrange a time that works for you. Please bring appropriate help and a suitable vehicle for larger pieces, and inspect the piece with us before it leaves.

Where we ship

We currently ship throughout the continental United States. For Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Canada or international destinations, email us at heirloomdecorshop@gmail.com with the piece you want and your address, and we will get you a firm quote. We can often make it work.

Before you order a large piece

Please measure your doorways, hallways, stairwells and the room itself before you order. Because delivery is curbside or threshold, you are responsible for getting the piece from your door to its final spot — so it is worth confirming it will actually fit through every opening on the way. If stairs, a tight turn, an elevator or a walk-up are involved, tell us in advance so we can plan it properly rather than discovering it on delivery day. We are always glad to talk through dimensions with you first.
