Overview

A handsome example of Danish mid-century cabinetmaking, this open two-bay bookcase dates to circa 1960–1970. Constructed with a generous layout and a full complement of adjustable shelves, the piece offers exceptional versatility for books, art objects, ceramics, or vinyl collections. At 53 inches wide and nearly five feet tall, it makes a quiet, authoritative statement in any library, living room, or home office.

Design & Materials

Richly figured Brazilian rosewood veneer covers all primary surfaces, with dramatic flame and ribbon grain patterns throughout. Bookmatched panels create a continuous, highly decorative grain flow across the front face. Solid rosewood is used for the legs and structural framing, which terminate in four slender tapered legs that lift the piece elegantly off the floor. A central vertical divider separates the two open bays, each with independently adjustable shelves on a pin-hole system. The overall form is clean and rectilinear with sharp knife-edge profiles at the top and sides.
