Overview
A definitive example of Swedish mid-century modernism, this high-back lounge chair was designed by Folke Ohlsson and produced by Dux Furniture of Sweden, circa 1960–1968. Ohlsson was one of Sweden's foremost furniture designers, and his work for Dux is among the most sought-after in the Scandinavian modern canon. This example has been fully and professionally reupholstered in a rich mustard-gold velvet, presenting in exceptional ready-to-use condition.
Design & Materials
The chair features Ohlsson's signature angular X-frame base in solid walnut, with four dramatically splayed tapered legs joined by a low crossbar — a sculptural silhouette that is immediately recognizable and highly graphic from any angle. The wingback shell rises from the frame with deep channeled upholstery panels that give the back its structured, architectural quality. A bolster pillow suspended from the top rail on a pair of weighted fabric straps allows the headrest position to be adjusted. The new upholstery is a plush, dense mustard-gold velvet with excellent pile depth and vibrancy.
