A Scandinavian modern lounge chair that does the clever thing: the whole seat floats on a cantilevered bentwood frame, so it flexes gently as you settle in. The result is a chair that looks architectural and sits like a cloud. Deep buttoned brown leather runs across a separate headrest, a diamond-tufted back, a thick seat cushion and two generously padded arm pads, all cradled by a continuous bent rail that sweeps from the sled base up into the arms. The leather has aged into a soft, slightly variegated chocolate with real patina. A comfortable reading chair with a strong 1970s Scandinavian silhouette.
Design & Materials
Bent laminated hardwood frame in a rich rosewood-toned finish, built as a cantilever on a sled base with a shaped stretcher between the rails. Buttoned brown leather upholstery on the headrest, back, seat and arm pads, with a canvas back panel. Unmarked, so no maker or designer is attributed; the form and construction are characteristic of 1970s Scandinavian production.
Condition Notes
Good vintage condition. Minor wear to the canvas panel at the top back corner. The leather shows honest creasing, softening and some tonal variation, with slight wear along one arm-pad seam and light scuffing to the frame finish. No rips or tears, the tufting is intact and the frame is solid with its expected springy flex.
